Description
Material
We offer the Chesapeake Chair in either Spanish Cedar or Sapele. Both have beautiful grain characteristics, are rot and bug resistant and are currently considered to be a more sustainable option than other hard woods. Spanish cedar is a lighter wood with a unique marbled grain pattern. Sapele is about twice the weight and is known for its straight ribboned grain. No matter which species you chose, we will hand select the most inspiring pieces to compliment the shape of each component of the chair.
Finish
Each chair is finished by hand sanding to gently release the grain. We recommend an oil finish to presents the dark richness of a wet wood and additional weather protection. If you prefer a natural, unfinished look your chairs will gently weather to an inviting silvery grey.
Construction
The Chesapeake Chair is built to last. Each piece is tightly joined and glued. Fasteners are carefully hidden using yacht joinery techniques which also seals out moisture. As a final touch, each leg is treated with a marine grade epoxy to protect the end grains from ground moisture. Our goal is to build products to be passed down through generations.
Delivery
Each chair is shipped fully constructed and finished to your specifications. We offer free delivery within the general Chesapeake Bay watershed area. Other delivery arrangements are available as requested. Contact us for a shipping quote.
